The 14-year-old boy arrested in Bali for possession of cannabis will be released next week after spending months in jail. His story has brought our own juvenile justice system under scrutiny.

In 1992, Queensland Parliament passed the then Juvenile Justice Act, deeming 17 year olds be treated like adults in the Queensland Justice system, a move that was meant to be temporary.  19 years later we are still waiting. A number of activists are campaigning to bring the Queensland system in line with the rest of the country.
