Analysis by the Australian Bureau of Statics and Western Sydney University has revealed significant under-reporting of hearing impairments in Indigenous communities.

79 percent of people with a hearing impairment had never report long-term ear health problems according to the independent survey.

As many of Australia’s national health reports rely heavily on self-reported data, this presents a considerable problem for policymaking and discrepancies for on-the-ground care.
