A fence will ring the 100 square kilometre area which is safe for passing through and hunting in but not for permanent occuaption.

A ceremony in far north South Australia will today formally give the Maralinga- Tjarutja people full access to their land. They are planning to increase tourist operations and offer ‘Cold War’ tours of the bomb sites. Some areas remain contaminated after a controversially incomplete cleanup of the radiation-affected country.
