The damning report issued today by the administrators of Clive Palmer’s Queensland Nickel Refinery, FTI Consulting included the words “should be wound up”
The final 800 workers will be laid off and over 2000 people in support and related businesses could also lose their jobs in the city of Townsville, North Queensland
Whilst a number of last ditch efforts are going on to save the refinery, including an employee buy-out, most people are not optimistic. The only light is that the Cowboys, Townsville’s NRL team, are winning.
Is this just another symptom of a harder landing from the mining boom? What will be the future of Clive Palmer MP member for Fairfax?
