Tony Abbott has proposed a pay increase and improved conditions for teachers willing to take on work in remote communities.
The former PM went further to call for the removal of HECS debt for teachers taking on remote work, in a move that he hopes will improve education in Indigenous schools.
However, educators know that a holistic approach is necessary for real improvement.
