Most tourists who go to the Northern Territory flock to Uluru or the Kakadu National Park. But now outback communities across the NT are being asked to think about how they too might attract visitors. The Territory’s Chief Minister Adam Giles says major tourism projects could be the first step towards creating jobs and promoting economic development in the bush. And he’s encouraging leaders in places like Yuendumu, Mutitjulu, Wadeye, and Borroloola, to come to the government with plans to boost tourism.
