Britain becomes the first country to legalise the creation of IVF babies by two women and one man. The transfer of mitochondrial DNA is no news but this is the first time the regulation has draw a clear line on the ethics debate on this technique. IVF Australia’s Professor Michael Chapman explains how this method would retain the parents’ characteristics without the debilitating defects in the mitochondria.
