Today World Red Cross Day is being celebrated around Australia by showcasing their influence in the community.

We all know the contribution that the many volunteers make to blood donating services and natural disaster relief, but did you know that they’re shining light on mental health too?

The Red Cross are also putting support for asylum seekers, the homeless and those returning to the community after jail-time to the forefront of their organisation.

The Wire spoke with Mark Groote, South Australia’s Red Cross Director, and a few of the dedicated volunteers out in the streets of Adelaide’s Rundle Mall.
