The Medics sweep National Indigenous Music Awards

Brisbane-based band The Medics has swept the National Indigenous Music Awards taking out New Talent Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Album Of The Year. The band has family history in music. Bunna Lawrie, of the band Coloured Stone is the father of one member and the uncle of another. At the awards night Lawrie joined the band on stage to perform a rendition of the stirring classic, ‘Black Boy’, recorded by his band in 1984. The band’s singer Kahl Wallace chatted to The Wire about the awards and what the future holds for The Medics.
