Denisovan discovery

An extinct human species related to Neanderthals, the Denisovans, have found to have unique immunological properties.

A breakthrough with the archaeological material from their bones allowed scientists to recreate their DNA.  The Garvan Institute has found that they can actually ‘dial up’ or ‘dial down’ immune reactions which has dramatic implications for the treatment of immune system diseases.
