Dr. Sandra Abell from James Cook University, will be leading a team of researchers when they drop from a helicopter in April next year.
The expedition through the Queensland jungle, wants to discover whether or not the thylacine still exists, despite it being declared extinct 81 years ago.
Interest for the project was sparked after people contacted the researcher about more than 50 encounters with the animal.
