Oil drilling off the south coast of Nova Scotia has been in place since the 1960s but proposed new exploration by Shell has raised major concerns in Nova Scotia and the international community. Of particular concern is the time it will take for capping equipment to arrive in Nova Scotia in the event of an oil spill and the potential risks to the fisheries and tourism in the area.
