A proposal for the first ever space nation has been announced and is calling for people to sign up for citizenship.
The space nation, dubbed Asgardia, after the mythical city in Norse mythology, has attracted its fair share of criticism with many labeling the venture as a “pipe dream”.
According to the Asgardia website, the purpose of the satellite nation with be to protect humanity from asteroids and space debris, as well as curb the possibility of space warfare in the future.
The nation will have its first satellite in orbit within 18 months.
