A report released today takes a fresh look at the mining debate, by asking not whether Australia’s mining boom is good or bad, but what level of mining growth will benefit the economy?

The report suggests that if the Australian government continues to support the rapid growth of new mining projects, other industries will fall by the way side. Most of the arguments against mining focus on the environment or land rights, but this report suggests that the need to curb the mining boom is also just simple economics.
