Renewed calls for royal commission into Australia’s banks

The Commonwealth Bank of Australia is facing a fresh inquiry amid claims it facilitated 53,000 transactions linked to money laundering and terror financing.

The allegations are serious and have sparked an independent investigation by the banking regulatory body APRA.

But politicians and experts have said a royal commission would be more suitable for a task of such scope.
