In the lead up to the federal election some creative arts advocates say secure funding is often less available in regional and remote communities. Despite being credited with fostering local jobs, boosting creativity and allowing artistic expression, regional artists continue to face funding barriers. The major political parties aren’t revealing too much about their regional arts policies just yet.

The Greens have accused Labor of shunning regional artists in their policy, while the Coalition, who is yet to confirm any major details of its own, is also critical.

The Wire contacted both the Coalition and the Labor party who were unavailable for comment before broadcast.
