This week is Gambling Harm Awareness Week in Victoria to raise awareness about the harm done to families and the community. The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation is developing events throughout the community to start a conversation on gambling and the issues it can trigger, such as loneliness, financial problems, and mental health issues.

It comes as a study conducted by the School of Public Health at Monash University, found some organisations are funding themselves from the money they supposedly donate to the community, particularly pokie machine operators.
