In December a Federal Court awarded Lex Wotton damages on behalf of Palm Islander’s in their racial discrimination case against the state.

Queensland Attorney General Yvette D’Ath has filed an appeal on behalf of the Queensland Police Service in response to the December ruling.

The Queensland Government’s choice to overturn the ruling has been met with concern from local MP’s and Palm Islander’s who fear the appeal is preventing the local Indigenous community from healing.
