QLD community legal groups latest victims of government cuts

Queensland’s Liberal National government has cut all funding to four legal community organisations as part of its post-election cost-cutting campaign. Sisters on The Inside, a group that advocates for women in the criminal justice system, the Environmental Defenders Office in Cairns and Brisbane, and the Working Women’s Service have all lost access to State Government funds. Australian Lawyers for Human Rights say the cuts undermine access to justice in Queensland and the principle of equality before the law.
