Al-Qaeda leader and orchestrator of the September 11 attacks, Osama Bin Laden has been killed in a US security operation in Pakistan. Having evaded capture for over a decade, President Barack Obama today announced Bin Laden’s death and said US authorities have taken custody of his body. President Obama described the development as the most significant achievement to date in the US efforts to defeat Al-Qaeda. However, experts warn of the effects his martyrdom could have on rebel groups.
