The federal government department of Environment Water, Heritage and The Arts has released the governments draft cane toad threat Abatement Plan. It states that due to the vast scale of cane toad infestation, and the absence of a biological solution, total eradication is not practicable. Instead we should be focusing on positive outcomes through decreasing the numbers of toads. However, local volunteer efforts continue to make a difference on the WA/NT border and the Townsville city council is hosting Big Toad Day on Sunday.
