Germany has announced plans to phase out all of their nuclear power plants by 2022. If approved, it will mean the closure of 17 of the 195 nuclear power plants in Europe. Australian Greens Senator Scott Ludlam says it’s an indication that the nuclear industry is in decline. It comes after yesterday’s announcement of another near melt-down at Japan’s Fukushima plant – the site of the nuclear disaster after the earthquake and tsunami in March.
