A new global study finds increased rainfall leads to higher incidences of flooding in cities. Rural areas, on the other hand, lose their moisture thanks to increased evaporation.

Over the next 20 years, global flood damage is projected to cost over US$100 billion.

The University of New South Wales reviewed data collected from more than 43,000 rainfall stations and 5,300 river monitoring sites across 160 countries.
