Microplastics pollution is one of the biggest environmental threats to both aquatic ecosystems and human health. A breakthrough project run by Dr. Jennifer Matthews from the UTS Climate Cluster and Dr. Rakesh Joshi from UNSW Sydney aims to engage existing technology and citizen science to eliminate microplastics from Australia’s oceans. Dr. Matthews explains how the success of this project will be measured by ensuring that aquatic life and the environment are not harmed during the process.
