Tasmanians have joined Victoria, the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia with a new legislation that allows transgender and gender diverse people to choose whether to include their gender on their birth certificates or not.
However, it has been questioned if this could increase sexual violence against women in women-only spaces.
