The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) today released the revised draft of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. Low water flows over many years have caused important wetlands like the Coorong in South Australia to deteriorate. New to the draft is improved measurement of salt levels.

Salt must now be measured in the Lower Lakes which are near the end of the river. But experts say even if the revised plan could help the Lower Lakes, it will not be enough to help the Coorong right at the river’s mouth.
