This month, the Federal Court overruled the decision from the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) of not funding services on sexual health for Australians with disabilities who require them.

A woman with multiple sclerosis requested to use her NDIS funds to have specialised sex services, but the agency rejected the proposal.

According to the Federal government, the use of funds for sexual health is not consistent with a ‘community expectations’ policy.

But advocates and organisations welcomed the Federal Court’s decision, but the agency will appeal the ruling, saying it could ‘blow out’ the scheme’s budget.
