The Pacific Islanders Forum acts as a bridge between various pacific island governments. It is incredibly important as it helps establish issues – such as the threat of rising ocean levels and environmental impacts on economies. This year, it is being held on Nauru, which has caused all manner of chaos for the media all over.

Nauru is where asylum seekers who arrive by boat are sent. Due to the reports of mistreatment on the island, the Australian and Nauruan government have worked in tandem to keep these atrocities on the down-low. This has affected the media coverage of the Pacific Islanders Forum.
