Imagine risking your life to fight for your country, only to return home and find that the government won’t look after you, and won’t even let you vote in elections. In the past, this is what happened to many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who fought in our armed forces.

This week is NAIDOC week, and the emphasis this year is on recognizing these contributions that have remained hidden for so long. The biggest project ever undertaken to document the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander servicemen and women is headed up by Professor Mick Dodson.
