Music For Refugees is a Sydney based group which provides musical instruments to refuge and asylum seekers both in and out of detention.
Their most recent project has seen a litany of musical instruments to the detention centres in the pacific.
With the government agreeing to pay for the transportation of the instruments, could it be that the power of music is proving a point of healing in what’s been a tenuous relationship between asylum seekers and the government?
Roderick Chambers spoke to Music For Refugees representative Phillip Feinstein to learn more about the program and its origins.
