Mining industry launches radio blitz against the mining super profits tax

The mining industry hit the airwaves with a series of campaign ads today criticizing the government’s new mining industry tax. The miners say they already pay their fair share of tax- while the government’s figures say they’ve got it easy. Earlier today I spoke to John Quiggin, an economist and Australian Research Council Senior Research Fellow based at the University of Queensland, about why he supports the mining super profits tax. We’ll hear from John Quiggin shortly but first, a snippet from one of the ads launched today by the Minerals Council of Australia.
