Medical profession still opposed to Sydney lockout laws relaxation

Sydney’s lockout laws have been in place since 2014 in an effort to reduce alcohol-fuelled violence, particularly in the Kings Cross area.

A recent parliamentary inquiry has recommended a relaxation of these laws (excluding the Kings Cross area) in order to revitalise Sydney’s night-time economy.

However, medical professionals and health staff are opposed to these changes, fearing that it could lead to an increase in alcohol-fuelled violence.
