When it comes to marriage equality, the impact on public health may be greater than you first think. Leading public health organisations are weighing-in on the same-sex marriage debate, calling on Federal MPs to support marriage equality as a public health issue. The Public Health Association of Australia and the Council of Public Health Institutions have written to all Federal MPs. They say feelings of social exclusion felt by LGBTIQ people impact on their physical and mental well-being.
