In an address to a tax reform forum in Melbourne today Treasurer Joe Hockey promised real and not ‘band aid’ tax reform from the government’s upcoming White Paper, although it is still unclear what those reforms may be. The Grattan Institute is advocating a broad based but low land tax which they say would considerably boost state budgets and relieve pressure on the federal governemnt.
