While Queensland members of the Liberal Party push for the federal government to build coal fired power stations, experts warn it could put communities at risk of increased exposure to toxic pollutants.

While countries like the US have introduced regulations to reduce emissions of harmful chemicals like sulphur dioxide and mercury, Australia is lagging behind.
