Legalising the sale of rhino horn: shutting out poachers or encouraging them?


Yesterday saw the beginning of the first legal auction of rhino horn in South Africa.

While the horns were taken from tranquilised animals to protect them from poachers, conservation organisations are concerned this is a step backwards for ending the trade of wild rhino horn.
