Company directors could be liable under Australian law for not taking climate change risks into account according to a legal opinion by respected lawyer Noel Hutley.

Mr Hutley found while there aren’t any particular laws directing them to consider climate change, considerations of the company’s best interest could compel directors to take these risks on board and do something about them.

The opinion was commissioned by the Centre for Policy Development.
