Japan could be back to their old whaling ways – sooner than expected

Anti-whaling group Sea Shepherd says it will meet Japanese whalers in the southern ocean and do what it takes to stop the hunt, if Japan recommences whaling operations in the Antarctic. It has only been two months since the International Court of Justice ordered Japan out of the area for killing whales for commercial benefit under its thinly veiled ‘scientific’ program. Despite this, Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, today made headlines around the world for telling his Parliament that he would look to boost efforts to restart commercial whaling in Antarctica.
