The government’s program to close the gap has again come under question after reports emerged that funding and grants aren’t reaching Indigenous communities. The current system, called the Indigenous advancement strategy, was set up by the Abbott government, to condense 150 programs into just five. It was supposed to be more efficient, but organisations on the ground say they’re not getting the funding they need.
