An inquiry into Australia’s own Modern Slavery Act could come to pass as the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade invites interested persons and organisations to have their own say.
The legislation could force Australian businesses to submit an annual statement of their earnings in order to identifying those using slave labour. Experts are hoping the legislation will adopt traits from its UK counterpart while still being tailored for Australian businesses.
