Last year, two men and two women died on a ride at Dreamworld, due to faulty maintenance and lack of adequate safety checks.

The tragedy prompted a review of safety regulations in theme parks, which has led to the discovery safety requirements are not stringent enough.

This has also led to the proposal in Queensland parliament today that industrial manslaughter become a criminal offence, where previously companies would only be held liable with a fine.
