The sign of a healthy reef is in its capacity to be loud and teeming with sounds of fish and other aquatic life.

Armed with this information, scientists have set out in the Great Barrier Reef to use loudspeakers to broadcast prerecorded sounds of healthy reefs to lure fish back to these decaying ecosystems.

With the hope that the return of these fish will lead to the regeneration of marine environments, there may be hope yet concerning the fate of one of this planet’s most fragile and diverse ecosystems.
