A case being considered in the High Court today is deciding whether the Government can indefinitely detain refugees who ASIO determine to be a security risk.

The restrictions make it difficult for those considered security threats to present a counter argument to ASIO’s claims as they are not provided with the evidence being used against them.Furthermore, without any specific information about the allegations it is a nightmare for the lawyers to assist their clients. To further complicate the problem, there is no avenue of appeal against those who are found to pose a security risk.
