According to the Department of Health, over 6 million individual tests for COVID-19 were conducted in Australia since late January. It takes up to 5 days to determine if a person is positive.

As more clusters and hotspots are being discovered in NSW, especially in the CBD area, there has been calls for group testing to be conducted. This is to help to get a full picture of how the disease is moving through the community.

Erielle Sudario asked Professor of Statistics Aurore Delaigle from the University of Melbourne to explain what is involved in group testing.
