The cost of war to servicemen and women once they return home is about to be assessed, with the Minister for Veteran Affairs, Alan Griffin, announcing an inquiry into veteran suicides. Official figures record 31 veterans have committed suicide in the last 5 years, but many question if this represents the true number of deaths. The inquiry will look at several recent cases of veteran suicides, to determine what contributing factors, if any, could have been prevented.
