It’s one of the government’s largest areas of expenditure: healthcare. Yet for something both sides of government spend a substantial amount of money on, and something every Australian uses, health policy and rhetoric has been on the quiet side.

Health Minister Tanya Plibersek and Shadow Minister for Health and Aging, Peter Dutton went head to head today at the National Press Club to debate what was hoped to be some solid policy. But the debate left many unsatisfied, with experts calling the debate “bland” and not addressing the important health issues.
