The New South Wales government is planning to release two million native fish into rivers of the Murray-Darling Basin. These native fish have been nearing extinction for the past few decades, and the government has made investments into fish restocking in the hope that they can regrow their numbers.

Yet experts are calling for more funding over fears that the fish will not survive into the future.
