The Coalition government will only have to put up with a Greens and Labor dominated senate for another two weeks, before the new senators move in on July 1. Christine Milne has said the Greens will try and force the government to vote again on the abolition of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, which may cause a double dissolution election.

Meanwhile many of the government’s controversial budget measures have yet to be legislated to pass through parliament, with Labor ministers saying the government is “running scared” of its own budget. But experts are sceptical that either party will succeed.
