Federal Government lifts ban on HIV home-testing

The number of new HIV cases in Australia has risen steadily over the past 15 years, but testing rates have plateaued. In response, the Federal Government has lifted restrictions preventing the use of home-testing kits, meaning Australians will soon be able to test themselves for the condition. However, some experts have raised concerns over the accuracy of the tests, as well as the possibility that some of those who test positive may not report themselves to health authorities.
