Research has found that increasingly, young people are turning to social media for their news. With the accessibility of these platforms, Australians between the ages of 8 and 24 are engaging with news that is both factual and fictional. But are young people becoming more discerning?

While experts say Australians are more skeptical of their news than ever before, there is a need to equip the public with proper skills. Calls are being made across the board for a national news literacy curriculum that will teach young Australians how to navigate the news.
